For the Holy Father, it was a great effort

March 3, 2021

John Paul II was showing to this world that suffering cannot be removed and that it is not worth hiding it. That the cross is an integral part of everyone's life – says Archbishop Mokrzycki. This is also why this last Lent of the Holy Father, this last Easter, was so much needed for us all. The fact that he allowed the entire world to see his suffering was an extraordinary proof of entrustment and love. To God and to the people.

On March 6th, archbishop Sandri traditionally read the reflections before the Angelus Prayer. The Pope thanked for "evidence of love", especially from followers of other religions, Jews and Muslims. He wrote about the preparations for Easter. And he offered suffering for the "good of humanity" and for "our purification." The Holy Father recalled the story with the healing of the blind man, recalls the Archbishop. – Christ as the "light of the world". He wrote about the fact that faith is the light that guides us through life. That it is a flame that heartens in difficult moments. "When a child is born we say that the baby "comes into the light"- he wrote. For believers born by baptism into supernatural life, Lent is a time of "come to light". Lent as a time of "coming to light". The Holy Father experienced this to a great extent. He watched everything on TV - said Archbishop Mokrzycki. – Then, he approached the window and greeted the faithful. It lasted maybe a few minutes. Not long, but for the Holy Father it was a great effort. Doctors recommended that he use his voice as little as possible. He had to save himself. The idea was to improve the work of the trachea.
