GIFTS OF KIND HEARTS

December 24, 2020

For many years, in the pre-Christmas period, a Christmas wafer meeting was organized in the John Paul II Foundation Home in Lublin. It was attended by bishops, priests, rectors of the Catholic University of Lublin, members of the John Paul II Foundation Warsaw Chapter, together with the President, Ewa Bednarkiewicz, invited guests, stipend recipients and residents of the home. The meeting always started by a solemn Mass, after which wishes were made and Christmas wafer was shared. Our Friends from Warsaw brought cakes and other dishes for refreshments, which were tasted at the end of the meeting. There were also traditional Christmas presents. The President and the members of the Warsaw Chapter brought for each stipend recipient a package containing clothing, school supplies and sweets. Stipend recipients were taking them to their family homes when they went there for Christmas. Over there, they passed the gifts to those in need. The children welcomed them with great joy and gratitude.

This year, due to the coronavirus epidemic, it was not possible to organize a Christmas wafer meeting in the traditional form. There was also no opportunity to hand over the package to the stipend recipients. However, there the gifts were still presented. This was possible thanks to the President and the members of the Warsaw Chapter. This year, the stipend recipients received a wonderful collection of reflections by Father John Paul II on the Battle of Monte Cassino, entitled "The Challenge for Poland and Europe". The book was published by the Center for Documentation and Research of the Pontificate of John Paul II in Rome.

We had the opportunity to bring these books from Warsaw to Lublin and personally thank the President for this another gift of heart, which is a sign of a great kindness and concern of our Benefactors for the stipend recipients. We would like to thank you very much for this on behalf of stipend recipients and ours. We promise a prayer to the Child Jesus through the intercession of St. John Paul II, so that the Son of God may bless every moment of Your life and Our Lady may lead You on the path to heaven.

Fr. John and Fr. Robert
