John Paul II made available to women a considerable space in the Church, including by enabling them to participate in the Synod of Bishops and international conferences. In Beijing, for example, there were fourteen women among the twenty-two members of the Holy See delegation, headed by Mary Ann Glendon, president of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences. The Holy Father has increasingly involved women in the life of curia organisms. Sister Maria Rosanna was the Undersecretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. The Pope also often met with general chapters of female religious congregations. It is also worth mentioning those who, in support of the Pope's mission, are the greatest novelty in the life of modern Catholicism. It is about church movements. Never before was recorded such a lush flowering of movements, increasing in numbers, diversity.
Karol Wojtyła had the opportunity to learn about new movements in the Church when he was metropolitan of Kraków. At the time, he was mainly concerned about defending them, because the Marxist regime wanted to eliminate them all out of fear. This was the case with the Light-Life Movement, founded by Father Franciszek Blachnicki, who was a prisoner of the Nazi camp, then the communist regime, until his death in exile.
